Beatrice Tyson Steele, 86
Mrs. Steele, of Charlotte, formerly of Mt. Gilead, passed away on March 11, 2010 at Levine Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, NC.

The Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 14th, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Long and Son Mortuary Chapel, 2312 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216. On Monday, March 15, 2010 viewing and visitation will be held at Leah Levine Auditorium, 100 School Street, Mt. Gilead, NC from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Stephens AME Church Cemetery. Long & Son Mortuary Service is serving the Steele Family.


Richard 'Bill' Junior Ratliff, 65
WADESBORO -- Richard 'Bill' Junior Ratliff, died March 8, 2010. Memorial service 7pm, Sunday, Smith Funeral Home.

WADESBORO -- Mary L. Ingram died March 10, 2010. Funeral Sunday 2pm, Poplar Hill Baptist Church; burial, church cemetery. Knotts & Wade Funeral Home in charge.


Earl Rhyne Faires , 55
PEACHLAND -- Mr. Earl Rhyne 'Sonny' Faires, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Union-CMC Hospital, Monroe.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Leavitt Funeral Home. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.

Sonny was born in Mecklenburg County on September 24, 1954, a son of Earl Rhyne and Louise Cranford Faires Sr. He was employed with Jim Hill Sand & Gravel Co. Sonny enjoyed boating and swimming. He was an avid collector of Star Trek memorabilia and a huge fan of WWE wrestling. Survivors include his wife, Brenda of the home; his parents, Rhyne and Louise Faires of Wilmington; a son, Michael (Jennifer) Faires of Decatur, GA; 3 step- children, Leann (Phil) Harrington of Kannapolis, William Poston of Huntersville, and Crystal (Eric) Maney of Sherrills Ford, NC; a sister, Deborah (Tim) Cherry of Wilmington; and 7 grandchildren, Amy Hallor, David Hancock, Hannah Harrington, Colton Cunningham, Garret Maney, Cade Maney and Shelby Poston.
