LANDOWNERS WORKSHOP

-- Montgomery Community College in Troy will host a LANDOWNERS WORKSHOP as part of North Carolina's 2011 "Prescribed Fire Awareness Week." Registration will be held from 8:45-9:00 a.m., followed by classes until noon. After lunch, participants will visit the college's forestry lab from 1:00-3:00 p.m. (weather permitting). Landowners will be introduced to the use of prescribed fire as a tool for timber stand and wildlife habitat improvement. The class is free and will be limited to 25 participants. BBQ FUNDRAISER

-- The Anson County Domestic Violence Coalition will hold a BBQ FUNDRAISER from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 208 S. Greene St., Wadesboro. The plate will include chopped barbecue, slaw, baked beans, roll and dessert (drinks will be available for all in-house dining). The cost is $8 per plate.
